I just read this post and your previous post (systematic faith) and found myself making some comparisons. Maybe the church needs to "learn" to be the church again. Maybe its okay that she continues to fail, because it is a learning process. Every time the culture changes, the church needs to learn what it means to be Jesus in that culture. It isn't easy... a pull too far away from culture is separatist, a push too close towards culture is conformatism (ok thats not a word). in any case there is a tension for the church, and by church I mean the body of believers, to be Jesus to and for the world. what that 'looks' like... is a learning process full of stupid mistakes and self-centered motives. Of course its easier to repent and move forward as an individual, much harder as a large community of people in agreement. interestingly… I just read this post and your previous post (systematic faith) and found myself making some comparisons.
